Construction Industry Awards Recognize Safe Jobsites, Graduates of Leadership Program

A record 2.7 million hours logged with “Zero Cases Resulting in Lost Workdays”

AMHERST, N.H. – Associated Builders and Contractors, New Hampshire/Vermont Chapter (ABC) held the state’s premier annual Construction Industry Safety Awards banquet at LaBelle Winery on June 13. The awards recognize the safety records of New Hampshire’s top construction contractors in several categories and the graduation of 33 individuals from leadership development programs.

The ABC construction safety awards program recognized commendable safety performance of over 40 companies and presented nearly 80 awards this year.

“The record number of recipients shows that contractors in our region are safer than ever because of a commitment to ensure everyone who shows up for work goes home in the same condition or better than when they arrived that day,” said Joshua Reap, President & CEO of ABC. “Safety is job number one.”

Reap noted that 25 participants have a combined 2.7 million personnel hours of work with zero cases resulting in lost workdays and is a record for the awards program. “This industry has a remarkable commitment to safety. When a group of people start with safety, we can accomplish great things carefully, quickly and more efficiently.”

“The awards convey our strong support of safety performance in full recognition of the fact that each firm has the responsibility for safety on and off the jobsite,” remarked Reap. He noted that part of ABC’s mission is to help members develop people, win work and deliver that work safely, ethically, profitably and for the betterment of the communities in which ABC and its members work.

The awards banquet also recognized graduates of ABC’s Future Leaders in Construction (“FLiC”) and Superintendent Certification programs.

The FLiC course is an eight month program designed to teach conflict resolution skills and practical knowledge for being a leader on a jobsite. Superintendent Certification provides practical knowledge used to manage projects. “The skills learned throughout these courses are useful for leaders on the jobsite and also in their personal lives,” said Reap. “It’s very rewarding to see the positive change in people that take the classes, as they become empowered with the confidence and skills necessary to lead.”

Vanessa Reven, Elm Grove Companies, receives her Future Leaders in Construction (FLiC) certificate. FLiC is an eight month intensive management
skills development program provided by the ABC to help develop the next generation of leaders.
